Evaluation of the Safety and Efficacy of Extracts from the Leaves of Five Plants Used for the Treatment of Arterial Hypertension in Benin

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are nowadays real health problems in the world. High blood pressure is one of most important risk factors for CVD and affecting more people Benin. The objective our work to evaluate safety efficacy leaves five plants used treatment hypertension Acute toxicity was evaluated on wistar rats which orally administered a single dose 2000 mg/kg body weight hydro-ethanolic extract Phyllanthus amarus Schumach. & Thonn., Persea americana MILL., Ipomoaea fistulosa Mart. ex Choisy., Heliotropium indicum L., Schrankia leptocarpa DC., were monitored over period 14 days. Subacute received daily 200 plant leaf 28 Plant assessed by measuring potassium leaves. Administration did not cause any deaths rats; varied depending extracts administered. Concerning subacute treatment, levels aspartate amino transaminases (AST) Alanine vary significantly after days with different extracts.
